Students who live on campus are required to purchase their meals from the
university food service. A variety of meal plan options are offered. You will
review the meal plans and make your choice during Orientation.

Thinking about living off campus?
With very limited exceptions, all first- and second-year undergraduate
students are required to live in university residence halls.
You are eligible to live off-campus if:
- you
are 21 years of age or older;
- you
graduated from high school more than 2 years before your arrival at UWSP;
- your
spouse will accompany you to Stevens Point;
- your
children will accompany you to Stevens Point.
If you are eligible to live off campus, the ISSO encourages you to stay in
the residence halls for your first semester of study. This will provide you time
to explore Stevens Point and get to know classmates with whom you might share
off-campus lodgings. Most student leases are based upon the traditional academic
calendar: 1 August - 31 July. Mid-year student leases are rare and January's
weather can increase the challenge of searching for an apartment.
Student leases generally require "first + last" rent and a security deposit
(you pay rent for the first month and the last month plus an additional amount
against potential damages) when you sign your lease. "Utilities" (gas for heat,
electricity, water, trash removal, cable television, and internet) are generally
not included in the monthly rent. Most apartments are "unfurnished," which means
residents must provide their own furniture. We
strongly urge you to be aware of and consider all costs
associated with living off campus before taking the decision to do
so.
Eligibility for a release from the on-campus living requirement is determined
on a case-by-case basis by the UW-Stevens Point Office of Residential Living. Please
schedule an appointment with the UW-Stevens Point Office of Residential Living staff to
discuss your eligibility to live off campus.
