Financial Matters

Please bring your funds in a secure form: traveler's checks, a bank check, or an international money order drawn on U.S. Dollars. Alternatively, you may wire your funds to your UWSP account. To wire money to your UWSP account kindly contact the Office of International Education for instructions. We strongly urge you not to carry your funds as cash.

When you enter the United States, you will be asked if you have more than USD $10,000 with you. Be sure to answer honestly. The penalty for false claims is seizure of your money. 

You may need money for food and hotel accommodations if you miss a flight connection, so be prepared with a credit card and a small amount of pocket money in cash.

Banking will be discussed in detail during orientation. You will have an opportunity to meet bank representatives and open a local bank account at that time.
