Windows 11 Wireless Setup


Setting up WPA (802.1x authentication) for Windows 11

  1. On your Windows 11 Task bar, search for Control Panel and select the Control Panel app.

  3. ​​In the Control Panel box, select Network and Internet.

  4.  

  5. ​Select the Network and Sharing Center.

  6.  

  7. In the Network and Sharing Center, select Setup a new connection or network.

     

  8. Select Manually co​nnect to a wireless network.

     

  9. Enter the following.

    • Network Name:  UWSPWIRELESS (All capitals). 
      Note: eduroam participating institution accounts should enter “eduroam” for the Network Name.

    • Security Type:  WPA2-Enterprise

    • Encryption Type:  AES

  10. Click Next.

  11. Click Change connection settings.

     

  12. Select the Sec​​​urity tab.

     

  13. Under Choose a network authentication method: select Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP).

     

  14. Click Settings.

  15.  

  16. Uncheck Verify the server's identity by validating the certificate box and click Configure...

     

  17. Uncheck the Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any) box, and click OK.

     

  18. Click OK again.

  19. Click Advanced ​Settings.

     

  20. On the 802.1x Settings tab check the Specify authentication mode and set the mode to User Authentication.​

  21. Click OK and close the Settings window.

  23. Left click on the Wireless icon (Globe)​​​ on the bottom right hand corner of the Task Bar to bring up the Networks menu.

  24. Click Available to manage your Wi-Fi connections.

  26. Se​​lect UWSPWIRELESS ​then click Connect.

  28. A promp​​​t should appear to sign in. Type your UWSP username@uwsp.edu and your UWSP password. 

  29. Note: If you are an eduroam participating institution, connect using your home institution credentials.

     

    You should now be connected to the UWSPWIRELESS network.
