Speech and Language Pathology
Undergraduate students enroll in one or two semesters of clinical practicum during their senior year under the supervision of
faculty and staff. Students provide individual or small group therapy sessions and complete communication assessments at the clinic.
Graduate students in speech/language pathology obtain practicum experiences each semester. Under the supervision of
faculty and staff, students provide individual or small-group intervention and diagnostic services at the clinic or the
affiliated off-campus sites. The culminating experience, which follows completion of the graduate academic coursework, is a 15-20 week, off-campus externship. This externship allows students to expand their knowledge and skills in the educational or medical setting.
Audiology

Students receive practicum experiences with diverse populations and age groups at the
Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic and/or at
affiliated off-campus sites. The clinic maintains close working relationships with numerous professionals in the medical, rehabilitation, and public/private school communities.
Clinical doctoral students in audiology progress through four semesters of on-campus clerkship experiences, four semesters of off-campus clerkship experiences, and a full-time externship during the final year of their academic program. The clerkships and externship provide invaluable experiences in educational and medical settings to prepare students for a career as an audiologist.
