Educational sanctions at UW-Stevens Point

Students who are found responsible for breaches of University alcohol and drug policies are often required to complete an educational sanctions, often in the form of an in-person or online course. Descriptions of each of sanction are provided below.

PACE - Personal Alcohol Control through Exploration

Personal Alcohol Control through Exploration (PACE) is a 3-hour educational program and 30-minute follow-up meeting with a trained facilitator. The PACE program will give each participant an opportunity to explore their choices surrounding alcohol and consider whether those choices are consistent with college goals. After attending PACE, many students identify it as a positive experience. PACE is not an A.A. meeting or a therapy session; it is simply a look at student drinking habits and college goals.

Students can only participate if they have been referred to PACE. There are numerous PACE programs scheduled for Thursday evenings and Friday afternoons during the semester. Students who attend PACE will immediately sign up for a follow-up meeting time.

Follow-Up Meeting – The one-on-one follow-up meeting is an opportunity for the participant to discuss marijuana use privately and explore possibilities for personal growth and change. It will take about 30 minutes.

Follow-up Online Survey - The last part of the sanction requirement is a short survey based on information contained in Part1. Students are asked to participate in Part 2 via email which is sent 30 days after they complete Part1. This survey takes 15 minutes to complete.
