The DHS 
Division of Care and Treatment Services is a proud supporter of the Mental Health and Substance Use Recovery Training Conference. A strong continuum of services for mental health and substance use prevention, intervention, hard reduction, treatment, and recovery is critical for us to achieve our vision of everyone living their best life.  We recognize this is challenging work and appreciate your dedication to making a different in the lives of all state residents.

Strengthening our Systems of Care
American Recovery Plan Act funds have been allocated to increase community-level supports for people who are experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.  Learn more about the plan for this money.

Check Out What's New on the DHS Website!

The DHS website is the new home for the Dose of Reality campaign focused on prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services for opioids.  The updated campaign will go live by the end of December. A new initiative--Real Talks Wisconsin--will focus on substance use prevention, harm reduction, treatment, recovery services in general (all drugs except opioids). It will give adults the knowledge, tools, and confidence to prevent and reduce the harms of substance use.  This initiative is expected to go live on the DHS website by the end of April 2022.

2022 Opioids, Stimulants, Trauma Summit - SAVE THE DATE
The 2022 Opioids, Stimulants, and Trauma Summit is scheduled for May 10-12 at the La Crosse Center.  At this time, in-person attendance will be limited to about 250 people.  There will be an option to join virtually. At this time, there will be a full day of presentations on May 10 and 11.  There will be a half day of presentations on May 12.  Continuing education units/credits will be available to people who participate in the live event either in person or virtually.  More information will be posted to the DHS website when it becomes available.

 

Voices of Wisconsin Students Project 
Wisconsin school kids have faced a lot of challenges over the past year, and they have a lot to say about their struggles with mental health, overcoming obstacles, and building resilience. Read the reports from “The Voices of Wisconsin Students Project."

Sometimes, Even First Responders Need Help
When helping others is your calling, asking for help can be difficult. Resilient Wisconsin is helping Wisconsin’s police officers, firefighters, dispatchers, emergency health care providers, and others learn how to recognize and deal with the effects of secondary trauma through a free training and resource guide. Get help for yourself or a colleague
