Our Mission
Opportunity House exists to foster successful outcomes for people in recovery from substance use disorder. Opportunity House was created in May of 2019, by a team of people with a common vision: to provide a place of residence for people committed to pursuing a sober and healthy lifestyle. Along with providing a safe (sober) environment. Opportunity House aims to provide a network of support and encouragement among its program participants. It was initially funded by a 5-year grant from the Wisconsin Partnership Program at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. The model for the house is based upon the modality practiced at less restrictive sober living houses, but still offers the necessary accountability that is a strong part of the foundation of a healthy recovery. Opportunity House also stresses the importance of serving others and will provide resources to the program participants about opportunities for involvement in the recovery community, and the larger community. Community engagement along with Peer Support inspires the program participants to face the future hopefully, encouraging action and accountability along the way.
