​UW-Stevens Point has partnered with the Project Management Group to bring Central Wisconsin a Master Project Management Certification and a Human Resource Project Manager certification course. This course functions for both certifications. Our MPM® certification course is presented in collaboration with One Page Project Manager (OPPM) International and include 11 of The One-Page Project Manager “seriously simple” modules. Each module includes a concentrated single-page handout of essential concepts coupled with interactive guidance. 

The course is delivered in a collaborative format to assist professionals who are already experienced in project management as well as those growing in their project management knowledge. The materials presented provide a variety of project management principles and best practices to help learners enhance their existing skills and experience.

Project Management Resource Group (PMRG) is a national leader in training and certification for human resource and project managers. PMRG has conducted hundreds of courses, seminars, and onsite trainings all across the U.S. over the past nine years.

Cost includes all certification tests, materials, CECs, and lunch.
 

Certification Requirements


You must attend all four days and have an average score of 70% on all exams. Those successfully completing the course work requirements will receive the MPM® or HRPM® Certification and may use the credentialing following their name. You will receive your credentials and continuing education credits two weeks after course completion. The course offers 30 Project Manager Institute PDUs and 30 CECs.

Instructor Bio



Mick Campbell, MBA, PMP
, is co-founder and Managing Partner of OPPM International and co-author of The New One-Page Project Manager. With 20 years of experience rooted in project management, innovation and technology, Mick helps individuals and organizations with leadership and communication to substantially improve project performance. Focusing on project innovation, Mick facilitates highly interactive sessions and workshops for the Project Management Institute (PMI) and AAPM certification requirements.

With a BS from the University of Utah and MBA in Technology Management from Westminster College, he has directed project and sales responsibilities in small and large high-tech companies. With certifications in Traditional and Agile Project Management and from Cisco, Mick brings a rich portfolio of both technical and qualitative experience.

Course Outline

  • Define, explain, and apply the five project management process groups: Initiation, Planning, Execution, Performance and Close.

  • Define and explain processes used to determine project feasibility and project cost/benefit analysis to come to a decision on project viability and potential return on investment.

  • Identify parameters of the initiation process to develop the business case including the executive summary, problem definition, project overview, strategic alignment, costs/benefit analysis, alternatives analysis, and approvals.

  • Outline and define areas of project planning including scope, deliverables, timeline, costs/budgets, quality, resources needed, stakeholder assessment, risk and contingency plans, and procuring products and services from outside the project team.

  • Define the types of deliverables need in the planning process for the project team and organization including but not limited to organization charts, responsibility matrix, timeline/schedule, risk management log, and communication plans.

  • Understand the elements of developing a Work Breakdown Structure when defining and assigning project tasks.

  • Understand and apply various change management models.

  • Recognize and identify the specific items needed to develop a project schedule including dependencies of tasks.

  • Understand what types of skill sets and capabilities are needed for project teams in the definition of authority, task assignment, and responsibilities.

  • Understand and outline personal and organizational values to reduce the risk of ethical dilemmas.

  • Define stakeholder groups and the level and frequency of stakeholder and sponsor participation in a project.

  • Understand the most common project pitfalls and how to mitigate them to ensure project success.

  • Determine stakeholder groups who will be affected by new process implementation to define success and delivery of methods for change.

  • Understand and define the leadership qualities needed to manage, monitor and direct project teams, establish accountability, level of authority, problem solving, and motivate performance.

  • Understand change management concepts and areas of resistance to guide the project team and stakeholders through the monitoring and controlling process toward implementation.

  • Outline and discuss the goals of execution, monitoring, and controlling the processes of project management.

  • Outline the frequency, method of communication, and information needed to communicate project milestones and progress to the stakeholder.

  • Use The One-Page Project Manager as a key project communication tool.

  • Understand key skills needed in leading project teams, facilitation of meetings, and presentation of project scope, goals, and objectives.

  • Discuss best practices of team building concepts and people management structures as they apply to cross-functional project teams.

  • Understand the steps involved in assessment, prioritizing, and mitigating project risks.

  • Understand and evaluate the steps in the post-implementation review and evaluation of project outcomes during the project closing process including obtaining feedback from stakeholders, project team members, and sponsors for learning transfer.

  • Understand the importance of documentation of lessons learned or best practices and the value of a project closing celebration.
