Plant-forward cooking makes healthy eating easier and more affordable while reducing your carbon footprint. Learn how to start eating more plants in our hands-on cooking workshop. You’ll prepare low-meat, vegetarian, and vegan recipes so you can experience how easy, flavorful, and satisfying plant-based cooking is. Pre-workshop online lessons will provide information on ingredients, cooking principles, and nutrition. You’ll leave the workshop with a full stomach, recipes, and more tips and tricks for making plants the star of every meal.

Proceeds from the workshop will be donated to the Feeding Student Success Fund to purchase meal swipes, freezer meals, and food for the campus student food pantry.

Deborah Tang
Deborah is a registered dietitian and senior lecturer in the School of Health Sciences and Wellness. She has been teaching in the Food and Nutrition Program for the past 17 years. Deborah teaches a variety of undergraduate courses ranging from introductory level to senior year. Deborah has interests in body image, women's health, and lifespan nutrition. Prior to embarking on a career in higher education, Deborah worked in a variety of clinical settings such as long-term care, outpatient clinic, prenatal nutrition, home care, hospital, and public health. Deborah became the family baker after bringing home carrot cake from her seventh grade Family Studies class and has continued to expand her skills and love of cooking ever since! Originally from Toronto, Canada, Deborah's family has made Wisconsin their home for the past 25 years. In her spare time, Deborah enjoys playing social tennis, cycling, downhill skiing with her family, and trying new recipes.

Annie Wetter
Annie Wetter, PhD, is a University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Professor of Nutrition with expertise in chronic disease risk reduction through diet and exercise. For over 2 decades, she has applied this expertise in the community by establishing non-profit health promotion organizations. Annie is eager to share the knowledge and help build the skills that people need to achieve wellbeing. With this knowledge and skill, she believes everybody has inner wisdom to make choices that are consistent with their values, honor their preferences, attend to their needs, and elevate their spirit. In her spare time, she raises goats, sells eggs, and grows mountains of produce. She tries, and fails, to keep up with her ultra-marathon husband. Her son is graduating from college in May 2025, so the nest might once again be full.
Refunds will be granted if the Continuing Education and Outreach office is contacted at least fourteen (14) days before the start of a class. No refunds will be given with less than fourteen (14) days notice. Programs that involve pre-ordering of materials and/or travel will not qualify for a refund unless your space can be filled from a waiting list. We reserve the right to cancel a course due to low enrollment, severe weather, or instructor illness. A full refund will be issued under these circumstances.
