College for Kids is for children seeking fun and adventurous learning opportunities. Our engaging classes are designed to stimulate curiosity, encourage creativity, instill confidence, and develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills—while having a great time! All of our classes are taught by highly trained and talented instructors from the university, community, and area school districts. These are not your typical classes found in your public summer school programs.

Registration Information



Registration fee: $100 
  • Please see the course descriptions for additional class fees.

  • If child is only attending one session, please email Youth Programming at ​uwspce-youth@uwsp.edu​​ prior to registering for registration guidelines.

  • You must be able to provide the campers health history, current medications (if any), immunizations, insurance, and health care providers at the time of registration​.​

‭(Hidden)‬ Parental Consent Requirement

Through Continuing Education’s registration process, we collect parental online contact information (name, phone, email) to obtain your consent for your child/ward to attend our camp. Your consent is required for the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information collected from your child/ward. Continuing Education will not collect, use, or disclose any personal information from your child without parental consent. In addition to your child’s/ward’s first and last name, we collect the following information:

  • Home address
  • Mobile phone number (if applicable)
  • Birthdate of child
  • Age of child
  • Gender
  • School attending
  • Grade in school
  • T-shirt size

K-1 Grade Session Descriptions

Session I - 8:45 - 10:15 a.m.



Story and Art | Instructor: Rebecca Bauer

Join us for a magical journey into the world of stories and art! In this class, we will dive into captivating books and bring their tales to life through exciting art projects. From painting to collage, we will explore a variety of art mediums to express our creativity. Don't forget to bring your art smock and get ready for a fun-filled adventure where every story leads to a masterpiece!





Back in Time at the Little Red Schoolhouse Instructor: Marathon County Historical Society Staff 

Go back in time to 1904 and visit the Little Red School House located next to the Wausau campus. Students will experience school life at the turn of the century. Students will participate in such activities as playground games, ​school lessons of that time (including the art of penmanship), making butter, learning about everyday life, and other fun activities typical of that time! ​

Session II -  10:30 a.m. - ​Noon​



Plant Detectives | InstructorBecky Wirkus​

Plants are very important to our everyday lives, from our food to the air we need. We will explore every part of the plant and how we use it to live. Embark on a journey into the exciting world of plants! Through hands-on activities, exciting experiments, and outdoor adventures, students will discover how plants grow, what they need to survive, and the important role they play in our environment.








2-3 Grade Session Descriptions

Session I - 8:45 - 10:15 a.m.



Art Among the Stars | Instructor: Carrie Austin

Step into the Space Studio and unleash your creativity! We’ll create swirling galaxy paintings, 3D planet models, and sparkling star collages. Imagine new worlds, design colorful aliens, and use mixed media to bring the magic of space to life. If you love art and adventure, this class is the perfect place to explore both!






Peter Pan | Instructor: Cindi Strobel

This fun version of the beloved classic is written just for kids! We will audition on Monday, rehearse all week, and perform on Friday! Parents, grandparents, etc are​​ welcome to attend the short performance on Friday during the last 20 minutes of class. Students will also learn acting skills, theatre vocabulary, and some prop/costume creation. There are small, medium, and larger roles available! Every child is guaranteed a role!​




Session II -  10:30 a.m. - Noon​




Sew Much Fun: A Beginner's Sewing Workshop! Instructor: Marat​hon County 4-H Stuff

Calling all creative kids in grades 2-3! Join Marathon County 4-H for a fun-filled Intro to Sewing workshop where young makers will learn the basics of sewing through hands-on activities. From threading a needle to stitching their very own beginner project, participants will build skills, confidence, and creativity—one stitch at a time! No experience is needed, just a willingness to learn and have fun. Sign up today and get ready to sew, create, and explore!​

4-6 Grade Session Descriptions

Session I - 8:45 - 10:15 a.m.



Pet Vets | Instructor: Becky Wirkus 

Spend the week exploring different species of pets and the basic veterinarian procedures used with our furry and finned friends. Get your hands dirty and dive into pet care, pet health, signs of illness, basic training, and more!

Experiential Archeology: Mammoth Hunters | Instructor: Sean the Mammoth Hunter

Students will start day one with an introduction to experiential archeology. They will get an up close look at a museum quality display, including demonstrations of primitive skills, and replicas of prehistoric predator skulls. Each of the following class days students will get hands on experience learning about a series of prehistoric skill sets covering stone tools, friction fire, cordage making, and primitive paint. By the end of the week each student will have built their own Stone Age tool kit that they get to take home to continue experimenting with.​




Session II -  10:30 a.m. - Noon​

Minimum Computer Standards


Registrants are responsible
 for ensuring they have the minimum computer standards for participating in the virtual Continuing Education program via Zoom. UW-Stevens Point is not responsible for registrant technological issues, including, but not limited to, inadequate bandwidth and/or registrant equipment malfunction.

Cancellation Policy


Refunds will be made if the Continuing Education office is contacted at least fourteen days before the start of class. No refunds with less than fourteen days’ notice. Programs that involve pre-ordering of materials and travel will not qualify for any refund unless your space can be filled from a waiting list. We reserve the right to cancel a course due to low enrollment, severe weather or instructor illness. ​BE SURE to provide your email address and phone number during registration so that we may contact you if a class is canceled for any reason!
