Burnout Awareness for All: Why It Matters and What You Need

Burnout is rising across professions — from coaching and social work to HR, education, healthcare, and organizational leadership.

In this interactive, research-based session, participants will explore how to recognize burnout in themselves and in the individuals they support. We will clarify professional boundaries, scope considerations, and the ethical responsibilities of helping professionals when burnout is present.

Drawing from evidence, lived experience, and practical tools, Ellen Kocher, MA, ICF MCC, NBC-HWC, will guide participants through reflection, self-assessment, and applied strategies to promote sustainable well-being and performance in high-demand environments.

Participants will leave with language, tools, and clarity to engage confidently and responsibly when burnout has become part of the professional landscape.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this 90-minute session, participants will be able to:

  1. Define burnout and differentiate it from stress, depression, and fatigue.
  2. Identify key signs and causes of burnout in both clients/patients and professionals themselves.
  3. Understand professional roles and boundaries when supporting individuals experiencing burnout
  4. Apply core helping skills (presence, curiosity, reflective dialogue, self-management) to support resilience-building and sustainable performance.
  5. Access evidence-based resources and next steps for continued learning and ethical application.
