Description

This three-course series provides a comprehensive understanding of AI tools, their applications, and their strategic impact across industries. Students will explore prominent AI platforms, learn how to leverage AI-driven data visualization tools for decision-making, and apply AI solutions to real-world business challenges. Through hands-on demonstrations and practical use cases, participants will gain the skills to effectively integrate AI into various professional roles and organizational levels.​

The ​coursework is available on demand and self-paced. Courses can be taken independent of one another and in any order. Once you register, you will receive a link and code to access the Canvas Learning Platform. Content is structured into 4-week sessions; however, they are work at your own pace so you don't need to rush to complete the material in that timeframe, it will remain available.

Courses do include knowledge checks, exercises and “assignments" to practice using tools with guidance. As a professional development course, these are optional activities to apply concepts and test skills. We encourage participation in as much or as little as you like. Essentially, we want you to practice and learn on your terms and preferences.

​​#1 - AI Platforms and Tools​ 

An exploration of prominent AI platforms and their relevance for business and industry. This course will define a wide variety of AI-powered tools, how they function, and in what industries/professions they are being implemented to improve efficiency, output, and innovation.

​​#2​ - AI-Driven Data Visualization 

Practical applications of AI-driven tools for data manipulation and visualization. This course introduces popular data tools such as Tableau and PowerBI in an effort to frame large and small data sets for strategic decision-making. Additionally, techniques for data structuring, cleaning, and converting will be explored via Microsoft and Google large language models. Students will be able to interpret real-world data to derive actionable insights.

​#3 - Strategic AI Applications ​​

A deep dive into real-world applications of AI technology for a variety of industry sectors. Students will learn how to effectively implement AI in the workplace. From entry level to executive leaders, this course will allow for exploration of use cases across an organization for practical purposes that produce effective results in real-time.​​

​Instructors

Kit Kiefer, M.A.

Kit Kiefer is a Lecturer in the Sentry School of Business and Economics and has also taught in the College of Fine Arts and Communication at UW-Stevens Point. Prior to teaching, Kiefer held positions such as Communications Manager at Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection, Corporate Communications Manager at Delta Dental of Wisconsin, President at C.C. West Consulting, Vice President at Professional Hobby Consultants, Editor at Krause Publications, and Writer at The New York Times.





Adam Olson, M.B.A.

Adam Olson currently serves as the MBA Program Director for the Sentry School of Business and Economics where he leads administrative operations and strategy for graduate programming and development. Prior to his work in higher education, Adam worked in the private sector in sales, food science, clinical genetics, and property management ​as the Principal at Westward Capital, LLC. His passion for data visualization stems from its practical necessity for making informed decisions amidst the ongoing technological revolution.​





Kurt Pflugoeft, Ph.D.

Kurt Pflughoeft ​is the Sentry Insurance Endowed Chair of Computational Analytics in the Sentry School of Business and Economics. He has over 20 years of industry experience using data science techniques, previously serving as the Chief Analytics Officer at MaritzCX and the head of Marketing Sciences at Market Probe. Before becoming a data scientist, he was the CIO for Market Probe, an international market research company, where he led the transformation to web and mobile surveys and automated sampling and reporting processes and helped set up the Bangalore IT center.
