Biography

Sarah Scripps completed her Ph.D. in History at the University of South Carolina. Her research focuses on public understandings of science in informal learning environments. Her research has been supported by organizations such as the National Science Foundation, Smithsonian Lemelson Center, and Bilinksi Educational Foundation. 

As a public historian, Scripps has directed and curated several exhibitions, public programs, and documentaries. These projects have received accolades from the American Association for State and Local History, Wisconsin Historical Society, Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation, South Carolina African Amercian Heritage Commission, Southeastern Museums Conference, and South Carolina Federation of Museums.

Scripps currently coordinates the Museum Studies Minor, a multidisciplinary program with tracks in Natural History, Public History, and the Visual Arts. Students who are interested in Museum Studies or pursuing an internship at the Museum of Natural History are encouraged to contact her.
