Undergraduate Research Fund - Tyler Stangel Creative Minds Fund
Purpose of the Fund
The purpose of the fund is to assist students in the CNMT department with research projects. Items eligible for funding include hardware/software, special-purpose devices, books or training materials (including online or video materials), or materials required for presenting the results (e.g. poster presentation). A research project can involve one or more students.
Submission Instructions
An application consists of two documents: a brief narrative (1-2 pages) describing the scope and goals of the project, and a budget.
Applications should be submitted to the department chair, who will forward the proposal to the CNMT Awards Committee. The committee will review the proposal and make a recommendation to the chair for final approval.
Proposals will be accepted until all funds have been allocated.
Faculty Mentor
Each research project should be under the auspices of a faculty member.
Reporting Requirements
Recipients of the fund are expected to make a presentation at the College of Letters and Science (COLS) Undergraduate Research Symposium, or the CNMT Department Banquet, or both (preferred). Note that this reporting requirement imposes a mid-April completion deadline on the project.
In addition, recipients must submit a final report to the Department Chair by May 15 of the academic year of the award. Please contact the chair for more information.
