Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor

LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor are available for use in all courses at UWSP, both programs work on computers (both Windows and Mac), Chromebooks, and iPads (if enabled by the faculty).

Respondus LockDown Browser is a special web browser designed for online exam proctoring. When enabled by faculty or instructors, students will be required to download and install LockDown Browser on their computers to take exams for the course. LockDown Browser prevents students from opening other webpages, copying, pasting, printing, opening other applications, or screen capturing exam content. Respondus Monitor is an additional feature that can be used in addition to LockDown Browser. Before the exam, Respondus Monitor ensures the student’s microphone and webcam are working properly. Faculty can require that students take a photo using their webcam, show their ID, scan their exam environment, or review special instructions before they start the exam. Monitor can record the webcam, the screen, or both during the exam.

Faculty can enable and setup both Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor themselves and there is no limit on the number of assessments (quizzes) that they can proctor in each course. CITL is available to help and support, please reach out to CITL at citl@uwsp.edu, if you would like assistance.
