Business Administration (Marshfield)

Joe Vance
“Hearing I was not qualified for a position just motivated me more to continue my educational journey to earn my degree. I did not want any other doors to shut in my face.

I wanted to grow in my current position with Marshfield Clinic Health System, and I had several opportunities come up, but I could not take them, because I needed to finish my degree. I can now confidently say that my degree will open doors for me to step into larger roles within the organization.

Obtaining my degree with UW-Stevens Point was super flexible. I was able to schedule online courses, plan around my career and build in the family time I needed. I was able to submit my resume to the School to assess whether I was eligible for college credit based on my work experience. After the evaluation I was granted credit for some courses. It was quick and convenient and it didn’t intrude on family time. I was done in three years thanks to my professors and adviser who were an amazing support system. My adviser outlined my time to degree, and I believe she was an integral part of my journey.

UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield was a great fit for me, because it was convenient and close to home. It allowed me to expand my skillset and prepare me for the business world. I am currently enrolled in the 4+1 MBA program, and I am excited about expanding my possibilities.

I knew I could not fail at obtaining my degree. Having a family and a new daughter – it was just out of the question. My business professors wanted me to succeed as well – it was a different learning environment for me compared to other universities. The best part was Zooming my class the day after my daughter was born to introduce her to my classes. They were just so understanding of my world changing.”

Sandy Vang "Taking a two-year break from school was a personal decision for me. I needed to figure out my path in life. As a daughter of Hmong refugees, my parents have always encouraged me to take on opportunities they never had such as higher education. When I realized UWSP offered bachelor’s degrees in Wausau, I knew it was time to come back and finish what I started after earning my associate degree. I will be graduating in December 2021 with a bachelor’s in business administration and advancing my career in human resources."

"I'm a photographer–creative, artistic and really good at my craft–but I realized I was missing the business aspect. After earning my associate degree from Mid-State Technical College, I decided to come back to finish my bachelor’s degree with UW-Stevens Point. I was happy all my credits transferred."
