Admission to an SBE Major
The School of Business and Economics has a formal
admissions policy. You must be admitted to your SBE
major to register for some upper-level courses and to graduate with an
accounting, business administration and economics major.
If you
are not far enough along in your studies to qualify for admission to the
major, we highly recommend that you request “pre-major” status by
declaring an SBE major. This will ensure that you
receive specialized advising from the SBE Advising Office and regular
updates on events and deadlines.
Current SBE policy states that you must apply for
admission to the major once you complete between 10-18 credits toward
the major.
You are encouraged to apply once you have
completed at least 10 credits in the major. You can check the online
catalog for the recommended courses for each major. Note: this includes
all courses that count toward your major including courses from other
departments, as well as from the School of Business & Economics.
If you are a transfer student, you should
apply before you complete 18 credits in the SBE major OR during your
first semester at UWSP.
If you are switching majors within the
School of Business & Economics or adding a second major, you may
apply even if you already have over 18 credits in the new major, as long
as you have met all other admission requirements.
