Experience
the flair of “Virtuosity” at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Wind
Ensemble’s Friday, Dec. 5, concert. It will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen
Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center.
Conducted
by interim Director of Bands Jonathan Caldwell, this is the ensemble’s second
program of the semester. It features Malcolm Arnold’s “Water Music,” a Percy
Grainger suite, Dana Wilson’s jazz-inspired “Shortcut Home” and William
Bolcom’s “Song for Band” and unrelenting “Machine” from Symphony No. 5.
Virtuosity will be on full display as Tara Schwab, assistant professor of flute
at UW-Stevens Point, performs “Concerto for Flute and Wind Ensemble” by Charles Rochester Young, professor of composition.
The
event is part of the Music Department Scholarship Series. Tickets are $8.25 for
adults, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for students and free the day of the
concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. Tickets are available at the
