A
100-year-old concept on education and outreach in the state, the Wisconsin Idea
has been cited by politicians, educators and many others. Many may wonder, what
is the Wisconsin Idea really about?
Learn
more at a free, public forum, “The Wisconsin Idea: Past, Present and Future,”
at 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at UW-Stevens Point’s Collins Classroom
Center Room 227. Refreshments will be served.
Audience
participation will be encouraged as several panelists discuss the Wisconsin
Idea and its role within the UW System, UW-Stevens Point and the entire state.
Sociology and Social Work Professor Bob Wolensky will moderate a panel that
includes:

resources-wildlife

“The Wisconsin Idea has been a valuable ‘framing concept’ that has
helped shape the University of Wisconsin System and the State of Wisconsin for
many years,” said Wolensky. “Our panel discussion will examine The
Wisconsin Idea in relation to its origins, its effects on state and national
life over the past century and its relationship to social, environmental and
other issues today.”
The
panel is sponsored by the Stevens Point Academic Representation Council and the
Affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers.
