Trombonist featured in UW-Stevens Point Symphony Orchestra concert

Faculty trombonist Patrick Lawrence will perform at an upcoming concert of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Symphony Orchestra.

The performance is Friday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall at the Noel Fine Arts Center. Conducted by Music Professor Patrick Miles, the orchestra will feature Lawrence in “Concert for Alto Trombone and Orchestra” by Georg Christoph Wagenseil.

The orchestra will also perform selections from “Carmen Suite No. 1” by Georges Bizet and “Suite from Die Meistersinger” by Richard Wagner.

Part of the Music Department Scholarship Series, the concert is $8.25 for the public, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for youth and students. Tickets are free on concert day for UW-Stevens Point students with I.D. Tickets may also be purchased at the door if available.

The UW-Stevens Point Symphony Orchestra is renowned for its performances of both standard orchestral repertoire as well as contemporary music. Students from all majors audition to become members. Miles has conducted the orchestra since 1990.
