A multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter and
producer will address University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point graduates and their
families at the spring commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 21.
Peter Greenberg is a travel editor for CBS News, hosts a
public television series and is a New York Times best-selling author. He will
speak to more than 1,400 graduates who will earn associate, bachelor’s, master’s
and doctoral degrees in ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the UW-Stevens
Point Health Enhancement Center.
The graduating class student speaker at 9:30 a.m. will be
Cody Kamrowski, a natural resources social and policy science major from
Melrose. Welcoming the new alumni will
be Kenneth and Sandy Falkinham of Wadsworth, Ill., alumni of the classes of 1968
and 1969.
The 2 p.m. speaker will be Nicholas Myers, a communications
and public relations major from Naperville, Ill. New alumni will be welcomed by
Dennis and Sharon Peterson of Waupaca, alumni of the class of 1978. During this
ceremony, Stevens Point residents John and Patty Noel will be the third and
fourth recipients of UW-Stevens Point honorary Doctorates of Humane Letters.
Graduating senior Lee St. Martin, a voice major from Bay
City, Mich., will sing the national anthem and UW-Stevens Point’s alma mater. He
will be accompanied by the UW-Stevens Point Band, directed by Music Professor
Michael Butler.
Guests may park
in any campus lot (for free) except Lot F West, which will be used for handicap
access. With construction of the new Chemistry Biology Building, Lot X is no
longer available but all other lots are open.
Greenberg appears on “CBS This Morning,”
“CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” and “Sunday Morning.” He hosts “The Travel
Detective with Peter Greenberg” series on public television and is the
author of The New York Times best-selling Travel Detective series.
He produces and co-hosts “The Royal Tour,” an
ongoing series of public television specials featuring one-on-one journeys
through countries with their heads of state. He is creator, co-executive
producer and host of specials on CNBC, The Travel Channel and The History
Channel, and hosts a nationally syndicated radio show, “Peter Greenberg
Worldwide.”
Greenberg received a News and Documentary Emmy Award as part of the “Dateline”
team of the breaking-news story, “Miracle on the Hudson.” He also received
an Emmy Award for investigative reporting for his ABC “20/20” special on
the final orphan flight out of Vietnam. His website,
