Children will discover various instruments and opportunities for music
instruction at an open house offered by University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
Continuing Education.
“Explore Music – An Instrument
Petting Zoo” will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Noel Fine Arts
Center Room 201. The event is free and open to the public, but advance
reservations are appreciated at 715-346-3838 or online at www.uwsp.edu/conted/artculture.
Continuing Education Arts and
Culture Outreach instructors will demonstrate and explain their instruments,
including strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, guitar and voice. Children may
also try an instrument to decide if they have interest in taking lessons or
playing in a band at school.
Continuing Education offers
instruction to students of all ages and skill levels throughout the year and on
most instruments, from banjo to violas. These students also have the
opportunity to join the Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra and Camp
COFAC outreach programs through UW-Stevens Point. For more information, go to www.uwsp.edu/conted and click on “Enrich Your Life.”
