Food, nutrition and the science behind it has always intrigued me, which explains why I chose to pursue a degree in dietetics. I aspire to become a Registered Dietitian and am interested in the research aspect of this career.

I enjoy cooking using alternative ingredients to make traditional dishes healthier. Two of my favorite modified recipes have been sweet potato black bean burgers and homemade cauliflower crusted pizza.
I am also an empathetic and very approachable person. Being able to appreciate the perspectives and emotions of others allows me to better understand the obstacles others face. While working and collaborating with peers, I enjoy taking leadership roles to guide the group through efficiently completing tasks. I work hard to lead by example. These traits will allow me to build and maintain healthy relationships with my patients, peers and colleagues.
Why I chose health care at UW-Stevens Point
I specifically chose to attend UW-Stevens Point because it offers an accredited dietetics program. While attending UW-Stevens Point I have, and will continue to have, many amazing opportunities such as the Health Scholars Program. I look forward to gaining clinical experience, continuing to participate in community service opportunities, and develop as a professional in the health care field. The campus organizations, like SAND, have also helped me connect with future dietitians and be involved on campus through volunteering at the CPS Cafe. Another reason why I chose UWSP is because it has a state-of-the-art Chemistry Biology Building, and science is a huge part of the dietetics program. I will be able to pursue my studies/career knowing I will have access to cutting edge technology. Lastly, I am a third-generation UWSP student.
