Building your résumé
Clinical training in speech and language pathology may begin at the undergraduate level and continues throughout graduate school in clinical practical experiences at the
UW-Stevens Point Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic and off-campus sites such as hospitals, private practices, birth-to-three programs, and skilled nursing facilities in the area. The clinical experience culminates with a full-time externship during the final semester of the graduate program.
Outside the classroom
Students gain valuable experiences and build relationships with fellow students, professors, staff and community members when they participate in events with our
student organizations such as annual highway cleanup, help plan a fall festival, volunteer at a head start preschool, spend time with nursing home residents or attend our annual spring picnic.
Student support services
Graduate coursework is taught by experts in the field and covers all areas required by the 2020 ASHA Standards for Certification.
Our
advising staff helps facilitate your progress through the graduate program. They advise graduate students during their program to meet requirements for graduation, ASHA certification and, if desired, DPI licensure. The staff also coordinate student's applications for graduate school.
