Krystina with Jars.JPGWIST supports your need to be responsive in the marketplace. When you are working toward sustainability goals, it’s important to meet your benchmarks. Consumers increasingly prioritize sustainable packaging, and organizations must respond with agility and precision to meet this demand.

Meeting sustainability certifications can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. WIST understands all that is at stake, and we work with you to explore the compostability of your product.

Our experts test plastics and packaging through trials that include disintegration, seed germination, and biodegradability. Our new plant growth chamber and respirometer allow timely results to keep your production on track, and our ISO 17025-accredited and BPI-approved lab tests compostability to ASTM D6400, D6868 or D8410 standards. What are "Green Guides?"

The Federal Trade Commission first published the "Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims," commonly called the Green Guides, in 1992. The last version was published in 2012, and it is now under revision. Throughout those revisions, the document has set out to detail how companies might advertise the environmental attributes of their products.

Compostable packaging is becoming more important, particularly in the food industry. Because packaging contaminated with food or composed of several different types of material is difficult to recycle, compostability provides a useful alternative solution.

WIST compostability testing helps companies understand the compostability profile of their products so that they may make certain claims regarding compostability in their marketing with that information. WIST can also test paper coatings and laminations to ensure more biodegradable options for your company’s packaging products.

We can help your organization generate less packaging waste, actively contributing to a better planet and staying ahead of regulatory changes that restrict single-use plastics.
