UW Stevens Point welcomed 45 professional artists to the campus for another successful Festival of the Arts.
Every year council members host the free event hoping to encourage art awareness, support working artists and contribute to local art education through scholarships raised by donations and the event's silent auction.
Professional artist Jessie Fritsch graduated from UWSP in 2006, and while in school she fell in love with encaustic painting; also known as hot wax painting using heated beeswax, "I got the Festival of the Arts scholarship for my oil paintings and some of my first encaustic work.
Fritsch got so good she was later honored at her very first art show, but said she couldn't have done it without that scholarship.
