Hear classic and jazz favorites at two concerts held at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau this month.
A Classical Concert will be offered at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, featuring the Concert Choir directed by Timothy Buchholz, associate professor of music, and the Concert Band, directed by Chad Premeau, associate lecturer of music. Both ensembles will present a variety of classic and contemporary literature including works by Duruflé, William Dawson and Alfred Reed.
The Fall Jazz Concert will be performed at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, featuring the Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Central Voices directed by Buchholz and the Jazz Ensemble, directed by Patrick Phalen, associate lecturer of music. Repertoire will feature both traditional and modern jazz standards and pop tunes including works by Finnish composer Mia Makaroff, Billy Joel and a modern take on a Bob Dylan classic.
Both will be held at the James F. Veninga Theater in the UW Center for Civic Engagement, 625 Stewart Ave., Wausau. Tickets are $5 each, or free for UW-Stevens Point students.
