UW-Stevens Point invites tuba players to perform together

Euphonium and tuba players of all ages are invited to participate in the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s first TubaChristmas event on Friday, Dec. 16.

TubaChristmas concerts, honoring the late great tubist William J. Bell, are held annually in over 250 cities throughout the world and feature traditional Christmas carols specially arranged by American composer Alec Wilder. The warm, rich organ-like sound of the tuba-euphonium choir has won the ears and hearts of every audience.

Participants will rehearse from 5–6:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center and then perform in a free public concert at 7:30 p.m.

Registration for performers is $5 per person, which includes a TubaChristmas 2011 commemorative button. Performers are also required to purchase music for “Carols for a Merry TubaChristmas,” which will be available at check-in.

Euphonium and tuba players interested in taking part in this event should contact Assistant Professor Patrick Lawrence, Department of Music, 715-346-4052 or Patrick.Lawrence@uwsp.edu to reserve a spot.
