Introduce your child to playing an instrument at the Aber Suzuki Center’s (ASC) free open house at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Thursday, August 23.
Held from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Noel Fine Arts Center, the evening will begin with musical exhibits and an instrument “petting zoo” in which children can try playing a violin, viola, cello, string bass, piano, harp and guitar. ASC Director Pat D’Ercole will give a welcome at 7 p.m., followed by a mini-concert by current ASC students of all levels. An information session will be held for parents from 7:15 to 7:35 p.m. while children enjoy rhythm games.
The open house will also include strolling violinists in the center’s courtyard, face painting and exhibits featuring local music vendors with musical merchandise so families can learn where to rent or buy instruments and supplies. ASC faculty members will be available throughout the evening for questions.
Those who register for fall lessons at the open house will receive a $50 tuition rebate. Private instrumental lessons can start as early as age 3 and the ASC Early Childhood Education class is offered to infants and children up to age 4.
