Comedian and Academy Award-winner Steven Wright will perform in Stevens Point through the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Centertainment Productions and Alternative Concert Group.
The show will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at Sentry Theater, 1800 North Point Drive, Stevens Point. Tickets go on sale Friday, Jan. 27, at $38 or $43, plus service fees. Wright has performed standup comedy on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson," "Saturday Night Live" and "Late Night with David Letterman." He has published several comedy albums, earning two Grammy Award nominations, and has been in several stand-up television specials. He earned an Academy Award for Best Short Film for "The Appointments of Dennis Jennings," in which he starred and co-wrote. He also wrote, directed and starred in the short film "One Soldier."
He has appeared in both television and films, including "Mad About You," "Louie," "The Larry Sanders Show," "So I Married an Axe Murderer," "Reservoir Dogs" and "The Swan Princess." He is a member of The Boston Comedy Hall of Fame and won The Johnny Carson Comedy Legend Award. Wright continues to tour in the United States, Canada and overseas and is a regular guest on several late night television talk shows.
