Be among the first to preview performances of University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point seniors before they showcase their talents in New York City.
Each year, students pursuing a bachelor of fine arts in acting and musical theatre travel to New York City as part of the Senior Showcase course. They will meet and audition for top casting directors and agents to get a head start on their professional careers.
This year's class of nine students will preview their Senior Showcase performances at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at the Noel Fine Arts Center Room 221, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point. The public is invited free of charge.
"Join us as we celebrate the growth and accomplishments of our graduating students," said Joan Karlen, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance.
The Senior Showcase course is taught by Assistant Professor Alan Patrick Kenny and Associate Professor Tyler Marchant. In addition to the trip to New York, students learn the business and personal aspects of a career as a professional actor and prepare for auditions.
Senior Showcase students include acting majors Katie Bowler, Winona, Minn.; Ben Kregness, McFarland; Taylor Meyer, Farmington, Minn.; Max Owens, Urbana, Ill.; and Martin Ryan, Fond du Lac. Musical theatre majors include Ryan McDowell, Sun Prairie; Sam McLellan, Wautoma; Joel Roberts, Madison; and Kurt Wallgren, South Haven, Minn.
