Swimming classes for children offered at UW-Stevens Point
Swimming classes for children are available this summer through the Special Needs Aquatic Program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The classes are for young children of all abilities accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children may gain an initial positive water experience, learn safety skills in and around water, and just have fun. In addition, older children with disabilities will have an opportunity to swim or learn to swim.
Two six-week sessions will be held Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. The first session will be held June 12–27; the second session will be held July 10–August 25. The 30-minute classes are held in the therapeutic pool in the UWSP Health Enhancement Center, located adjacent to the Quandt Fieldhouse on Fourth Avenue.
Classes for infant and toddlers, six months to three years, will be held at 10 a.m. Preschool classes for toddlers, ages three to five, will be held at 10:45 a.m. Each session costs $36. Classes for children with disabilities, six to 14 years of age, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Cost varies, depending on support needed.
Early registration is advised, as program space is limited. For registration and more information, contact the School of Physical Education & Athletic Training, 715-346-2706.
