Lifeguarding certification course offered at UW-Stevens Point

​Become American Red Cross lifeguard certified with a blended online and hands-on course offered through the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Special Needs Aquatic Program (SNAP). 

 

 

 

The Lifeguard Certification Course will be held Sundays, Feb. 21, Feb. 28 and March 6 from noon to 6 p.m. in the UW-Stevens Point Aquatic Center’s Suomi Family Aquatic Classroom. Participants will also be required to complete specific lessons online prior to each on-site meeting. The certification earned on completion is valid for two years. 

 

The course instructor is Samara Suomi, a UW-Stevens Point student who is an American Red Cross-certified lifeguard instructor. She has worked with SNAP as a lifeguard for five years and a swim instructor for the past two years. 

 

Taking the course for initial certification costs $220 for the public or $180 for UW-Stevens Point students. The price for recertification is $115 for the public and $80 for UW-Stevens Point students.
