With the fall semester underway at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, there is new leadership at the helm of departments and units within the university’s four colleges.
Rhonda Sprague is the new head of the Division of Communication within the College of Fine Arts and Communication. An expert in interpersonal and organizational communication, she has taught on campus since 1998 and is the undergraduate advising coordinator.
New department chairs in the College of Letters and Science include Professor David Ozsvath, head of the Geography and Geology Department and an expert in hydrogeology at UW-Stevens Point since 1987, and Professor David Chan, interim chair of the Philosophy Department and an expert in ethics who has taught at the university since 2001.
In the College of Natural Resources, Paul Doruska is the new associate dean for Academic Affairs. He has been at UW-Stevens Point since 2006 and previously taught courses in forestry and experimental design. Jeremy Solin has been named the interim director of the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education (WCEE). He previously directed the WCEE’s LEAF K-12 Forestry Education Program and has worked within the CNR since 2003. In addition, Associate Professor Brenda Lackey is the new discipline coordinator for Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management. She came to UW-Stevens Point in 2005.
Within the College of Professional Studies, Associate Professor Katja Marquart was appointed associate dean and head of the Division of Interior Architecture, where she has taught design since 2005. Lieutenant Colonel Gary Thompson is the new chair of the Military Science Department. He serves in the Wisconsin National Guard and returned to campus this year, having taught at UW-Stevens Point from 2004-2007. Kristi Roth is the director of the college’s new Center for Collaborative and Interactive Technologies, a space for developing, learning and utilizing current interactive technology. Roth is an associate professor of physical education who came to UW-Stevens Point in 2004.
