Two nationally and internationally known guest artists will perform together at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Thursday, Sept. 22.
Tenor Stanford Olsen and pianist Kathleen Kelly will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center. It is open to the public free of charge.
Olsen is a professor of voice at the University of Michigan and was a professional tenor for 30 years. He has performed with New York's Metropolitan Opera more than 160 times as well as with operas across the nation and world. He has performed and recorded with leading conductors and symphonies and won several awards. He counts among his credits more than 100 performances of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Handel's "Messiah" and Orff's "Carmina Burana."
Kelly has appeared nationally and internationally as a recital accompanist, notably in Vienna, New York and Washington, D.C. An opera coach and conductor, she is also on the faculty at the University of Michigan. In addition, she works with young artists and leads master classes across the country.
