Enjoy an evening of music from around the world while raising funds for Suzuki music education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's 2016 Music of the Masters.
Themed "Around the World in 80 Days," the Aber Suzuki Center (ASC) event begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, in the courtyard of the Noel Fine Arts Center. A cocktail and hors d'oeuvres reception will be followed by performances by ASC faculty, students and alumni. Desserts and coffee will be served at 8 p.m. All proceeds support need-based scholarships for music instruction at the ASC.
New this year, door prizes will be tucked into a select number of chocolate truffle boxes, on sale for $10 each.
Event tickets for the public are $45 before Nov. 1 and $50 after. UW-Stevens Point students may attend for $25. To purchase tickets or for information on the Suzuki program, call 715-346-3033 or go to www.uwsp.edu/suzuki.
The annual event is coordinated by a volunteer committee of the American Suzuki Foundation and has been a great success since its inception in 1994. To date, Music of the Masters has raised more than $130,000 to support need-based student scholarships. Last year's concert may be found at https://youtu.be/TF3tEl-i1yM.
The ASC has been providing top-notch music lessons to Central Wisconsin community members for 50 years. Its mission is to teach using the philosophical principles and music education methods developed by Shinichi Suzuki - the idea that everyone has talent and can become a successful, sensitive and caring person through the study of music.
