The
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s select mission statement is being
revised slightly, and those interested in giving input may speak at a public
hearing on campus next week.
The
session will be held Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the Founders
Room of the Old Main building, 2100 Main Street, Stevens Point. UW System Board
of Regents member Janice Mueller will preside and offer individuals the
opportunity to make an oral presentation on the revised statement for up to
three minutes. Individuals must register on site before or during the hearing
to speak.
The
proposed revision to the mission statement aligns with the university’s
strategic plan, A Partnership for Thriving Communities, to help communities be
more vibrant, healthy, prosperous and sustainable. The statement highlights how
UW-Stevens Point provides education, research and outreach through a variety of
programs, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. It also updates select academic
programs to include the addition of the clinical doctoral program in audiology,
the master’s program in business and removal of the undergraduate degree in
home economics. The proposed mission change is available at www.uwsp.edu/chancellor/Documents/pdf/UWSP%20Mission%20Statement%20Review.pdf.
Those
seeking more information or with special needs or circumstances regarding
communication or accessibility at the hearing should contact Rob Manzke, Office
of the Chancellor, at 715-346-2123 or rmanzke@uwsp.edu. Accommodations such as ASL
interpreters, English translators or materials in audio format will be made
available on request to the fullest extent possible.
