Fine art prints by more than 70 nationally and internationally recognized artists will be featured at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Carlsten Gallery as part of “A Look Back: Bob Erickson and the Pointer Press.”

The exhibit runs Sunday, Nov. 8, through Thursday, Dec. 3, in the gallery, located on the second floor of the Noel Fine Arts Center at UW-Stevens Point. An opening reception will be held Monday, Nov. 9, from 4-6 p.m. Both the exhibit and reception are open to the public free of charge.

Pointer Press was established by Professor Bob Erickson of the Department of Art and Design at UW-Stevens Point in 1990. His goal was to establish an undergraduate university fine art printmaking press that brought professional artists from around the world to make their prints while working closely with UW-Stevens Point students.

“Bringing these artists to UW-Stevens Point made the student’s view of the art world larger,” said Erickson. “Not only did they get to work with the artists, but they experienced firsthand what it is like to be a professional by listening to their life experiences.”

Along with this exhibit, a selection of prints created in the last 25 years by students in beginning, intermediate and advanced printmaking classes will be on display in the Schneider Student Gallery within the Carlsten Gallery.

The Carlsten Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, see www.uwsp.edu/art-design/Pages/Exhibitions/carlsten.aspx.
