A violin-clarinet-piano ensemble founded in
Ekaterinburg, Russia, will present two public performances and work with
students at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The Kat Trio will give a free, public concert Wednesday,
Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center at
UW-Stevens Point. Earlier in the day, the trio will work with Music Department students
in a master class at 3 p.m. and offer a public question and answer and mini-concert
session, “Chamber Music – The Kat Trio Process,” at 4 p.m. Their appearance is
a part of UW-Stevens Point’s Great Artists, Great Speakers series.
The Kat Trio showcases Russian arrangements and
transpositions of timeless melodies, classical works, inspirational songs and
American pop standards, including Scott Joplin’s rags. The group, made up of Victoria
Gorbich on violin, Vladislav Gorbich on clarinet and Justin Snyder on piano, has
played more than 600 concerts in more than a decade of touring. Hear song
