Musician Tom Harrell, widely recognized as a creative and dynamic jazz instrumentalist and composer, will bring his quartet to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point as part of the 28th annual Jazz Festival.
The band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point. The public performance caps a day of jazz study by hundreds of high school and middle school students from around Wisconsin, sponsored by the UW-Stevens Point Department of Music.

With a career that spans four decades and more than 260 recordings, Harrell is known for soulful, fresh and intelligent works. He performs the trumpet and flugelhorn, and weaves complex harmonies together with daring rhythmic concepts and unforgettable melodies.
He is a Grammy Award nominee, winner of the Jazz Journalists Association's 2018 Trumpeter of the Year Award and a frequent winner of Down Beat and Jazz Times magazines' critics and readers polls.
Harrell and his band will release a new album, "Infinity," this spring through Highnote Records.
