Celebrate Pointer pride at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point as the university and community mark Homecoming 2012 the week of October 15-20.
With the theme, “Pointer Doomsday,” Homecoming Week offers activities for community members as well as students and alumni. The week culminates on Saturday with the popular all-community picnic and new Tent City celebration, Pointer football game against UW-Eau Claire and the 2012 Awards Banquet.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, the picnic festivities begin at 10 a.m. at the Student Athletic Fields located on campus at the corner of Maria Drive and Michigan Avenue. The first 100 people arriving to Saturday’s picnic festivities dressed like zombies will attend free of charge. Otherwise, admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under and includes a picnic lunch.
Student organizations and campus units will make up a Tent City with over 20 tents on the field. Sentry Insurance is sponsoring the Sentry Family Corner, including inflatable games and face painting. There will also be free coffee while supplies last, courtesy of The Coffee Studio. In addition, the Tent City will include Stevie Pointer mascot appearances, a DJ, alumni reunions, alumni mentoring program information, Timbersports demonstrations, student competitions, a glass pumpkin sale sponsored by the SCULPT student group, a display of Natural History Museum artifacts and Belt’s Soft Serve ice cream treats for sale.

Two awards ceremonies will take place on Saturday evening, including the Pointer Athletic Hall of Fame and the 2012 Awards Banquet, which recognizes the university’s Distinguished Alumni Council, Alumni Service, Trailblazer and Lifetime Achievement award recipients.
Also on Saturday, residence halls will be open for alumni visits, the UW-Stevens Point Historic Preservation Committee will have memorabilia on display at Nelson Hall and activities will be held for graduates from 1962 and earlier as part of the Golden Iris Reunion.
