Alumna soprano returning to UW-Stevens Point to share expertise
Elizabeth Hagedorn, a 1979 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point vocal music program, will return to her alma mater on Friday, Dec. 2, to share her talent and expertise.
During a masterclass scheduled from 10 a.m. until noon in the Noel Fine Arts Center Michelsen Hall, Hagedorn will share her vocal techniques and experience performing abroad with students and interested community members. There is no admission to attend the masterclass, and it is open to all with an interest in vocal music.
As an established soprano in Germany, Hagedorn has performed a wide repertoire, including “Violetta,” “Konstanze” and “Donna Elvira,” as well as classical German operetta repertoire. She has also performed in various world and European premieres of contemporary operas, including the first Austrian performance of Michael Nyman’s “The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat.” Critical acclaim for her performances is widespread and she is well known for key roles in many complex contemporary operas. “Opernnetz” said she “presented herself with a powerful, expressive soprano voice, developing a very individual interpretation, beyond all conventions,” in a review of her performance portraying Chrysothemis as “Elektra.”
