HaSEAAC conference focuses on Hmong religion and culture

The differences and similarities between the religion and culture of the Hmong people will be the focus of the 18th annual Hmong and Southeast Asian American Club (HaSEAAC) conference to be held at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday, March 3.

The conference, “Hmong Religion & Culture … One People, Different Perspectives,” is open to the public and will be held in the Legacy Room of the Dreyfus University Center, 1015 Reserve St., Stevens Point, from 12:15 to 4:30 p.m. Various presenters will discuss topics including Christianity and Shamanism, Hmong weddings, domestic violence, and freedom of speech as it relates to Shamanism. A free dinner for conference attendees will be held at 5 p.m. in the Alumni Room.
