A one-day conference showcasing concepts, research and innovations in the fast-growing field of data analytics will be held Friday, Oct. 4, at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The Great Lakes Analytics Conference draws on the best practices in analytics, offering a venue for students, academic and business people, coaches and other practitioners to share examples, cases, theories and experiences in the field.
More than 30 conference speakers will present on topics including business, risk, health care and other data analytics. Keynote speakers are UW-Stevens Point alumnus Jeffrey Polzer of Harvard Business School ("When Meetings Multiply – The Consequences of Collaboration Overload") and Joseph Retzer of the UW-Milwaukee ("Building a Recommender System in R").
Other speakers include UW-Stevens Point data analytics faculty members Kurt Pflughoeft and Eduardo Rodriguez, UW-Stevens Point biology professor Dan Graf and analytics leaders at Central Wisconsin businesses including Sentry Insurance, Marshfield Clinic Health System and Church Mutual Group.
The conference, established in 2017 as the Great Lakes Analytics in Sports Conference, maintains a strong sports analytics component with 13 speakers on topics ranging from basketball to sports performance.
Registration is open through the day of the conference at a fee of $29 for students or $79 for the general public. Discounts are available for groups of three or more.
