Hear
classical favorites when the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Wind
Ensemble and Concert Band perform Wednesday, March 9.
The
concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall at the Noel Fine Arts
Center, conducted by Music Department Assistant Professor Michael Butler,
director of bands. Scott Teeple, professor of conducting at UW-Madison, will
serve as a guest conductor on select pieces.
The
Concert Band will perform “Fantasia in G” by Timothy Mahr, “Ye Banks and Braes
O’ Bonnie Doon” by Percy Grainger, “Amparito Roca” by Jaime Texidor and
“Finlandia” by Jean Sibelius.
The
Wind Ensemble will present “Commando March” by Samuel Barber, “Andante e Rondo
Ongarese” by Carl Maria von Weber featuring graduate student soloist Dylan Myers of Rhinelander on bassoon, “Sanctuary” by
Frank Ticheli and “Pineapple Poll” by Arthur Sullivan.
The
event is part of the Music Department Scholarship Series. Tickets are $8.25 for
adults, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for students and free the day of the
concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. Tickets are available at the
