A capella chorus opportunities for youth and adults
Explore your love of music with others in a casual, learning atmosphere through a six-week a capella choral workshop offered through Continuing Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The workshop, “Sing!” will be offered for ages 15 to adult on the Wednesdays of Feb. 1 through March 7 from 7–8 p.m. Another session, for children ages 6–14, will be offered on Saturdays, Jan. 28–March 3, from 9–10 a.m.
No previous choral experience is necessary. Participants will learn to sing by ear and won’t be required to read music. Students will sing in unison and focus on listening to each other to produce unified sounds. Adults will learn a new piece of music each week, including folk and patriotic songs. The children’s class will perform for family and friends at their last class and the adult class will have an optional performance at their last class. Each workshop is $49.
The instructor, Karen Zach, has performed in community choruses and operas, as well as recitals of art songs and opera arias. She sang with Vox Caelestis, a women’s chorus based near Chicago, and has a bachelor degree in vocal performance from Dominican University in California.
