“It was a natural choice for me to come here.”

Choosing UW-Stevens Point was an easy decision for 2011 wildlife management graduate Teal Joseph. Though she grew up in Crystal Falls, Mich., both of her parents are UW-Stevens Point alumni and have careers in natural resources.

“I grew up as an outdoors woman. I hunt, fish, camp and do everything I can outside.”

While at UW-Stevens Point, Teal had the opportunity to work for Portage County as a conservation warden, teaching others about safety, rules and regulations.

Teal received numerous scholarships, including the Douglas R. Stevens and College of Natural Resources Undergraduate Scholarship. Receiving this assistance gave Teal the opportunity to study abroad in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize over her winter break.

“Studying abroad gives you a better perspective, not only on your life, but the way people manage natural resources elsewhere.”
