Watch Your BAC - Stay in the Gold Zone

The Gold Zone

The Gold Zone represents the approximate BAC from sober to feeling a slight euphoria. Any amount of alcohol consumption will decrease judgment and increase impaired perception, vision, balance, and motor skills.

Staying sober is always an option! Approximately 30% of UW-Stevens Point students choose not drink alcohol.

BAC Information

  • BAC stands for Blood Alcohol Concentration and represents the concentration of alcohol in your blood.
  • Actual BAC levels will vary based on sex, weight, body composition, food intake, and other factors. BAC estimates should never be used to determine whether it is safe to drive.
  • Driving impaired, even if over 21 and within the legal limit, is never safe and may still result is citation or OWI charge.
  • It takes the body approximately one hour to metabolize a standard drink.
  • Only time will lower your BAC. It is a myth that drinking coffee, taking a cold shower, or taking a walk will lower BAC.
