Information Technology uses Aptean Verdiem Surveyor to better manage power consumption on UWSP owned computers.
Surveyor places university owned computers into sleep mode when not in use, waking them for scheduled maintenance windows, computer lab scheduled hours and in time for faculty and staff start of day.
The campus Green Power and Energy Subcommittee of the UWSP Sustainability Task Force found that significant power savings could be realized by putting university-owned computers to sleep when not in use.
University Officers approved the acquisition of a software package called Aptean Verdiem Surveyor to automate computer sleep mode during consistent unused periods. Surveyor is now installed on all University computers.
Does Aptean Verdiem Surveyor work if I turn off my computer?
Yes. if you turn your computer off at the end of the day, Surveyor will turn it on before the workday begins.
