Permission Methods and Policy
Permissions Methods
Electronic lock access can be automated based on group or set manually for individuals with approved requests.
Automated permissions are granted based on an individual's role or department based on data from DIMS, StarRes, or Campus Solutions. For example:
All faculty and staff of a department will typically receive automatic access to the exterior doors and general support spaces of their department's building and to the common areas within the department.
Students living on campus will receive access to the front door of their residence hall.
Students enrolled in specific programs or courses may receive access to related support spaces such as electronically locked classrooms, labs, and study spaces.
Automated permissions can be viewed but not managed by using the Electronic Lock Access Request e-form. More information is available on our
View or Change Access page.
Please contact your supervisor if you have any questions on which permissions are automatically provided to your department, or if you are missing any permissions commonly provided to your department.
If you are the manager of a space and would like to request the addition or change of automated permissions, please contact the
IT Service Desk.
Manual permissions can be requested for individuals who do not have automated lock access permissions through a group membership. Please see the
View or Change Access page for more information on how to view or request changes to your existing manual permissions.
